LEONARDO DA VINCI & VINCENZO IN FRANCE

Leonardo Da Vinci in France: a wonderful discovery.

« as a well spent day gives happy sleep, so a well used life gives an happy death »

Never so much prophetic words could accompany my article.

And I was walking, disappointed by rain, fascinated by my surroundings.

It is told with historical certainty that today where I sink the pen, there was the path of the greatest genius that human history has been able to know.

And I was lost as sometimes days forced me to be. But there is always a light that suddenly illuminates the mind, clears the way, inflames the heart.

It was King Francis I to invite him in 1516. He came from Rome, and with him all its wonders. The encyclopedic  scholar arrived at Amboise.

The destiny wanted to give me the random chance to let me see the world with his eyes for few moments. And I saw the world I wanted, his Italy even before mine.

Leonardo da Vinci died here on May 2, 1519. Francis I, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye  learned the news of the death and cried disconsolately.

« as a well spent day gives happy sleep, so a well used life gives an happy death » These words were written by Leonardo da Vinci in his “Trattato della Pittura”, 30 years before he died; I discovered them in Amboise and I make them my own forever.

These words come from the Amboise castle or Château d’Amboise, one of the magnificent castles of the Loire, one of my stops in France.

A journey marked by the tragic events in Paris; there where I spent my last night.

It was a beautiful trip. In the simplicity of this sentence I want that my message can arrive to you.

We sang, ran, dreamed. I thought of my guys so talented, so genuine, so Italian.

I thought of the guys died in the Bataclan, of Valeria Solesin.

“etc., because the soup is turning cold” Leonardowas writing in a rare record found between his sheets of geometry.

Etc., because today was a day well spent. Wheter It is a good morning or a good night, my journey continues.

I thank Louise and her 23 years without whom none of this would have taken place.
