In 2002 Sicilian director Emanuele Crialese brought in theaters the story of Grazia (a magnificent Valeria Golino), a Sicilian woman mother of three, stuck in a life she doesn’t fit in; her unhappiness dragging her down into depression, none of her family members nor her neighbors will understand, they will simply discard her as crazy. The movie was filmed in Lampedusa, where Crialese spent several weeks exploring in depths its streets, the harbor, the beach nd the famous rocks where the most important scene takes place: Grazia jumps from the highest rock into the sea and everyone will believe she’s finally found peace of mind.
