1. MOUNT PELLEGRINO
Goethe considered it the most beautiful promontory in the world. Indeed, it’s one of the most iconic places of the city, overlooking a magnificent, endless horizon in which the Eolie Islands and the Etna Volcano are included. Climbing up the mountain and reaching the Sanctuary of Saint Rosalia feels more like abandoning every day’s material triviality, ascending to Palermo’s holy soul. It’s easy to see why the citizens consider it more than a simple panoramic place, but a fortress protecting the city. However, admiring the sunset from here is a breathtaking experience, especially if you’re in the company of your significant other. Saint Rosalia will know whether she’s witnessing true love and, if this is the case, she will bestow the protection of her blessing.
